A Day in Seattle
We spent the night with our daughter in Fayetteville last night and got up early to catch a flight to Seattle via Denver.
It was Jubi's first big plane ride. She was a little uncertain after her first little noisy plane ride, but as soon as we were in the air she was working all the equipment like a veteran flyer, including the folding tray, the window shade, and the aft lavatory. She was also taking in the beautiful view flying over the mountains. I was just enjoying the downtime, snoozing on the plane.
We got landed in Seattle about lunchtime, got the rental car, and headed for downtown. After pasta and mushroom soup at the Cheesecake Factory, we headed a few blocks west for Pike Place Market. We walked all the shops where the fresh fish was "flying" and the fresh fruit and flowers made us happy. Nothing like grazing in a place like that. Cinnamon apple things, rubarb pastries, wonderful fruit. Little craft booths were everywhere like a nightmarket in Taiwan. Jodie bought a seatshirt for Alaska and we hit the original Starbucks which had a gospel group singing "This Little Light of Mine" on the street outside. Jubi loved seeing the seagulls close-up for the first time. "They're beautiful" she exclaimed. I'm not sure how much they hear that. Huge cargo ships were unloading and sailboats heading out for a cruise...sunshine in the seaside park, it had to be 72 degrees. What a perfect day!
Tomorrow we head to the beach with my sister Debbie's family. We haven't seen them for years.
