"Here is water..."
Deluge - that is what has happened that last couple of times it rained here. Shoal Creek set a new high water level. It was just under the highway bridge on 71. Scary stuff.
I missed the one day Write About Jesus Workshop. I would have loved to been there, but there is too much going on. Yearly budgets and schedules are due soon and we have a musical coming up in a few weeks.
Last Sunday my intern led worship and our preaching intern, uh...preached. A bird decided to join us in the new worship center for rehearsals. It enjoyed a Saturday night bath in the baptistry and decided to stay the next day for the 9:15 service. It put on a great show, flying back and forth across the auditorium. Jubi was delighted to describe each movement to me during the service like a sports radio announcer. "He's flying across again...He's on on top of the projector now." "Yes, sweetheart, I see." In the middle of the sermon he/she decided to land on the stage and walk to the front as if ready to address the crowd. He seemed at ease on stage...quite a ham, in fact. Finally at the end of the service a college age guy threw a towel over him and took him outside. No, it wasn't a dove, it was a starling. But all the unplanned entertainment didn't really detract from the morning. At the end of the 11AM service Vincent, a young college exchange student from France, a staunch atheist who was reached by the love of our college age group, gave his testimony and was baptized into Jesus.
The bird incident did make me think about the Dove at Jesus' baptism.
