It's Gone!
It flew! (re: my last blog).
My wife advertised our little travel trailer for free on the local city website. It is gone, but it's departure stirred some memories of building our house and struggling with our daughter's illness. It was a trying time but a good time. One night in that trailer I wrote some silly songs with my kids, like..."Cardboard Elephants" (don't make good exhibits) "PopTart Poodles" (don't ask) and "Static Cling" (based on a friend's tale about how her cat loved to sleep in the clothes dryer).
The first thing I did after we bought 5 acre lot of land was to drill a well and bring in electrical power. The trailer water system was gravity fed from a trash can on the roof. If water pressure got low, you went outside and flipped the switch on the pole. It reminded me of our campus ministry trips to Mexico...dribble showers, but warm because we had a small hot water heater in it. Roughing it for a summer was an adventure...kind of fun, in fact. It wasn't much of a trailer when we got it but it served it's purpose. It is really rough now. The electrical system is shot, the pumbing broken, the windows don't seal. I guess the new owner thought it was worth fixing up. Finding it gone when we came home from church closed a chapter in our lives....one where God proved His faithfulness over and over.
