Worship Ministry, Songwriting, and other crazy stuff

Chug, chug, chug....whooohooo

Last Sunday was fun. We reconfigured the stage for choir and orchestra, putting the choir up on platforms behind the curtain.  On the chorus of the first song the curtain opened to reveal a worshipping choir. It was great to see the reaction on the faces of the people as I was leading.  We did a medley from a worship musical and a Brooklyn Tab special..."This is Your House" that went so well with the text. Seven people gave their lives to the Lord and were baptized during the services.  We are making plans for Resurrection Sunday.  Parking is becoming a real problem now.

I was just minding my own business when I bumped into THREE cool song ideas last night. Or was it this morning?  They jumped me and dragged me to the piano where I was made to play for them.  They weren't done with me in the wee hours of the morning but I got too tired to play any more.  I'll have the last word though...I'll take them into a writing room and let my co-writer friends work them over. Then we'll see just how cool they are.

I got an e-mail from church with three campuses asking for the charts of a song. I wonder what that is like. Then I got  a call from Nashville...an indie artist asking to cut.  I have a choir octavo coming out soon and got word last week of my third song on hold in the last few months.  I feel like maybe, just maybe I'm on a locomotive that is slowly beginning to chug.  I'm wondering what a full head of steam feels like or if I could handle it. Then there's this nagging thought that it could blow a gasket and come to a screeching halt.  I try not to invest in too many expectations.  Just have fun writing, Phil...then it would be a pleasant surprise.
