Worship Ministry, Songwriting, and other crazy stuff

Yahoo!

I came home with 8 songs from last week in various stages...Five of them relatively finished. The others just need a second verse or some other tweeking. What a variety...a modern hymn, a couple of AC/pop tunes, a couple traditional gospel choir songs, southern gospel, inspo, even a country song.  It was a productive week. I also made a visit to Dennis' studio.  He will be doing a couple of demos on the songs.

I finally did my first video conference co-write with Steve to finish the song we started. That was way cool...just like he was in the room.  And it's free!!!  Well, except for the little camera that clips on my laptop.

The choir and orchestra are beginning to get things in shape for Christmas.  It sounded so good tonight with most of the instruments present and most of their music learned   Low brass, violins, french horns, oboe...etc playing a great bunch of arrangements by Dave Williamson. Everytime we learn a new musical, for me it is like a class in arranging.  I would like to do more of that if I can fnd the time. Saturday we begin putting the two choirs (one from Christ's Church) and orchestra together for the first time.

They opened up the atrium wall to put in the door frames that lead to our new worship center.  They are painting inside now. Just a couple more months and we will be in. Yahoo!

I think it's always good to have more than one song going on.  Otherwise, I tend to over-work songs.  When there's more than one in my head, they all feel a little bit less forced.
