Four Little Words

I kissed my daughter this morning before heading off to work...the one getting married this Friday.  The reality is beginning to settle in.  I didn't wan't her to stay home forever and I'm glad she's very happy but...you know.

I remember seeing her for the first time. With all the buzzing around in the delivery room, her eyes locked on me from under the warming light when I spoke to her.  I had been singing to her for months. I'd been watching her prenatal dance to the music in church.

I made her a cradle when we lived in a trailer on campus.  She would wake up in the morning and peer over the top to see if we were there to greet her.  She was a stout toddler who could pick up two full paint cans and carry them around.  She memorized and quoted the books we read. We planted her first garden together in the backyard of the parsonage in Excelsior Springs. Now she works in a greenhouse and has a very green thumb.

She is a thinker.  Sometimes, instead of playing with the cousins outside, she would sit in the living room with us gathered around grandpa, discussing scriptures and theology.

We have gone all over the world together, played together, lived, thought, and talked...and recently, went through this courtship together.  She's ready.....

Now for my four "little" words..."Her mother and I"
