Worship Ministry, Songwriting, and other crazy stuff

No great title for this...

When I was seven I was learning my alphabet.  I remember getting stuck on J.  My seven-year-old is reading Black Beauty.  She can't put the book down. She is taking it everywhere with her. She made an intricate little horse bookmark to mark her place.

We are getting ready for leadership retreat this weekend.  That's where all the staff, elders and deacons leave the weekend services to more capable people and go away to pray and hear from the Lord.  It is a highlight of the year.  I wish it was a little more of a retreat for me.  I still lead worship and a concert of prayer there.  I'm not complaining, I love doing that too, but I rarely get a chance to be led in worship.  It is always a treat for me to get away to other churches and just be free to enter in without being "in charge" of something.  Pray for us as we pray for the church.

I started two new songs last night over the web.  One with Melissa and one with Gina.  Looking forward to getting after those after the weekend.  I need to finish the orchestration on the song the choir is singing for Easter.  I'm thinking I also might lower it a step.  It is powerful but it certainly takes it to the limit if they are going to sing it seven (yes I said seven) times on easter weekend.  I don't want anyone to blow a gasket. I wanted to keep it in easy keys for the orchestra too, but alas, something may have to give.

Seth came in today with a song idea he has been working on.  I was giving him some guidance about it and we ended up spending some time writing together on it.  He has an MRI tomorrow to see if a tumor has returned in his brain.  Please lift him up in prayer.
