Write, Write, Write
Yesterday I wrote with James in the morning. It was a quick write, the idea just flowed into lyric and the melody was just so right. I love when that happens but it spoils you when you come to other times when things don't come quickly. It is so easy to track the idea with James. Like Sue, he expresses things very clearly. He has a great gift for lyrics as well as melody. It makes things so much easier when you have written together enough to become good friends. I makes a great team.
In the afternoon, I met Regi for the first time and he showed me around his company studio. Cool place. We wrote in the piano room where there is a very nice Yamaha grand. Does a great instrument inspire you? It does me. Even more so, when sombody like Regi touches the keys. It always takes a little while the first time you write with someone new to understand how they write and how to blend your strengths but it didn't take us long. I had heard some of Regi's choral work so that was the kind of idea I brought. After a great conversation we were in our element and the session began to flow. We have everything but the bridge and the full melody. I am really looking forward to writing more with Him.
Last night we went to Christ Community to hear Michael Card teach. Nathan, a friend and writer who has recently moved to Nashville met us there and so did Lyn R.- my co-write for the evening. Jodie, Jubi, Nathanael and I ended up at Panera afterwards where Lyn and I got a nice idea started.
This morning I felt a little dry. I had my first 3-way write with Sean and Jaime. Is was good to get better acquainted with Sean and write again with Jaime but we had a hard time chasing the idea down before time was up. Sometimes that is how it goes. We did come up with a couple potential songs.
The cancellation Sam expected in his schedule didn't come to pass so we didn't write this afternoon. I write with Maurice, this evening another first time but I am getting a little more used to writing with new people.
