Songs and Children
I guess I can break this news now. I'm not holding it my hand, but it's in the mail.
My song "Sovereign Lord" was released on Southeast Christian Church's new worship CD, "Glory".

Here is the story,
I wrote the song on the way back from Colorado, dictating it to my son while I was driving. The Lord was really moving and redirecting my life on that trip- impressing His sovereignty in my life. I put it to melody when I got home. I recorded my daughter and son's vocals on the demo and they began to sing it with me in church. Wow, was that special to lead it and hear them sing it. I ended up entering it at Write About Jesus, where it won in 2002. More than anything, that was a worship experience for me- a confirmation of this songwriting thing. Guy Zabka did a demo of it in Nashville with Aaron Benwood singing the vocal. The song was cut on the #42 SongDiscovery CD from Worship Leader Magazine and got a write up soon after in that magazine. It has been running around churches, encouraging people ever since, just like the rest of my "kids". It has found another home - a church worship CD.
Songs are a lot like children. You give them birth (but they really belong to the Lord). Sometimes they come with hard labor, sometimes they just pop out. You have to correct them occasionally and help them be what they are supposed to be. Nobody loves them as much as you do, but you love it when other people love and talk about them. Then...they make other friends and marry other people, leave home and take on a life of their own, going places you will never go, doing things with others you would never be able to do. They begin to make their own way as the sovereign Lord directs them and you wait to hear how He is using them. Funny, Huh?
