Worship Ministry, Songwriting, and other crazy stuff

Collaboration

This week we had our first sermon collaboration meeting.  It is a time set aside with our preaching staff and other few others who have spent their lives studying the word.  This week it was Randy, Roger, Roy Weece, Knofel Staton, Jay, Marion, and Me.   Each one of us was prepared to present our summation of the text of 1 John.  Then we brainstormed on how to pull it all together. It was wonderful to hear the insights and applications flow.   When we ended, it felt like we were in rabbinic school for a couple of hours.  This is going to be fun.  Kind of like co-writing sermons.

We started up orchestra again tonight.  It is great to see how our players have grown over the years and the new ones that have joined us.  I got an update for my Sibelius notation software a few days ago.  It looks like they have made some good improvements over the last version I had.  I'm hoping to arrange of a couple of songs for choir and orchestra for Easter this year.

My firstborn daughter is engaged.  Yes, I will be a father-in-law in a few months.  It is fun to see mom and her having fun together getting things ready.  Wow, there is a lot to do.
